Siemens wishes to raise awareness of hearing impairment and hearing instruments

The "Decibel" campaign will demonstrate options and solutions for improved hearing Siemens will be presenting its future "Decibel" campaign at this year's conference of the American Academy of Audiology (AAA) in Dallas, Texas. Siemens wishes to raise awareness of the topic of hearing impairment with this wide-ranging initiative and demonstrate the advantages of modern hearing systems to people with hearing problems all over the world. The main focus of the planned campaign messages will be the typical situations that cause problems for people with hearing impairment and the solutions that hearing aids provide. The campaign will include advertisements and posters and also customer-information materials for acousticians. All major Siemens markets throughout the world are to be involved over a period of several years.

The situation is similar in almost all industrial nations. Fifteen to twenty per cent of the population are affected by hearing impairment, but many people are not aware of what they are missing. This is exactly where the Siemens “Decibel” campaign comes in. The improvement in hearing provided by modern hearing instrument systems not only makes life easier for the sufferer’s professionally and privately but also offers new auditory experiences and in general improves the quality of life.

This is why everyday situations in which hearing is particularly important and with which the sufferer can easily identify are the main focus of the “Decibel” campaign. For example, the slogan “Why miss a decibel in your life?” will be used to convey the joy of hearing even the quietly spoken thoughts of a growing child. How relaxing it is to be able to follow what your partner is saying in a restaurant. Or how much stress can be avoided in professional life when you can understand everything that is going on because you can hear it all – again. The campaign will be starting in April. Siemens will also be conducting PR activities along with the planned advertising and publicity measures.
